The Shark Tooth II is designed to provide heavy-duty impact absorption in areas that receive high levels of abuse. Workout stations that are used for deadlifting, in particular, will receive more and heavier impacts than most other areas of the gym as these are 500 to 600 lb. weight being dropped directly onto the floor from about waist level. Rubber naturally retains excellent shock-absorption capabilities by dispersing the force of impact within its structure to reduce the amount of energy that reaches the floor’s surface. Not only does this heavy-duty mat protect floors from damage, but it will also help reduce chance of damaging expensive machinery or equipment as well.

Prevent Slips and Falls

As a rubber, the synthetic SBR material these Shark Tooth II heavy-duty mats are made of has a grippy surface that will not be affected by wet weather. In addition to rubber’s natural high coefficient of friction, the checker-plate surface design functions as traction-enhancing gripping points. These protrusions offer raised gripping points for shoe soles to firmly grasp onto for sturdy footing with each step to prevent slips and falls.

Unlike our previous version, the Shark Tooth II is made from durable and long-lasting synthetic SBR. The synthetic SBR material of this heavy-duty mat makes for an ultra-heavy-duty floor mat. Compared to natural rubber variations, synthetic SBR retains enhanced physical and chemical properties such as abrasion-resistance, resistance to weathering, and shock-absorption capabilities. Thanks to the synthetic rubber composition, the Shark Tooth II will have a longer life that will last for years to come.

Advantages of SBR

SBR, or Styrene Butadiene Rubber, is a tough synthetic rubber that is often used in the construction of vehicle tires due to their excellent abrasion-resistance. It retains outdoor properties that allow it to stand up well against UV and ozone. It is a synthetic general-purpose elastomer; however, it retains enhanced strength and resistance to aging that cannot be achieved with natural rubber.
