I don't know how they'll hold up, but they look and work great so far. They fit my old 1" cast iron weight plates from Weider and CAP, and even some old SA (Sports Authority) weight plates made of who knows what. As others have noted, the star collars have a tendency to loosen. However, I have two other pairs of similar dumbell handles that use star collars, and they tend to losen too. All three sets of dumbell handles I have, each made by a different manufacturer years apart, and with design differences showing they are not all from some third-party original source, all have this tendency, so I suspect it's just a downside to the design. It doesn't bother me much, I just check the collars for tightness periodically during a session, which only takes a moment. Unless you have the dumbells loaded up to the maxium capacity, the weights will rattle as they loosen, alerting the user to check the collars before it becomes so loose that stuff starts to fall off. This can be safer than spring collars or the old thumb-set-screw collars, which tend to fail with little or no warning, especially when the dumbell is held in a vertical orientation. If you hunt around, you might find large rubber washers or lock washers you could try, which might help to keep the collars from loosening. But, as I said, it doesn't bother me. Anyway, for those of you who like nice looking equipment, they do look good and were well packaged for safe shipment.
